The Walking Dead (season 1-2)

Well, well, I've almost finished season 2 of this series and I must say, I'm very happy with where it has gone.

When season 1 was on it's way I feared for it not being anything like the comics, and I was right, it was and is, nothing like the comics, BUT.. in season 1 as the it came to an end, I'd had to remind myself I was even watching a TV series based off of what I'd been reading, It got appalling, Science Lab? Shane's still alive? So I ditched its existence.

Bit the bullet, a few months along the line, knowing that they'd hired new/better writers for the series, gave it a shot, these 'new writers' definitely know what they are doing, I find myself forgiving them for keeping Shane in the series, The story has jumped a little bit, but it's back on track and a lot more true to the original comics.

Andrew Lincoln is doing a great job on his character Rick, the aim of the comics was to see the development of 'Rick' in the zombie world, and I feel Lincoln IS understanding this, and it'll do him good (if he keeps to it) in future seasons. I regret ever thinking he was the wrong decision.

Anyway, I can't recommend the second season enough and although I wouldn't say 'ignore the first' you gotta see it, otherwise, you won't know what's going on...

The Sopranos

The Sopranos (TV Series)


So I’m two episodes away from finish the final season of Sopranos and I thought I’d give you my thoughts and feeling on the Series as a whole, maybe (if you haven’t seen the series) then you can decide weather or not you’d like to watch it.

I’ll start by saying, the cast of this series is perfect, The italian americans don’t feel like an exaggerated bunch, same goes for the community & characters around them. They’re not as obvious as, say the cast in ‘The Godfather’ trilogy, which to me is a good thing. You quickly notice what type of person each character is, tough guy, funny guy or bastard.

Now I won’t go ahead and spoil any story here, only hint. Tony Sopranos quickly gains leadership in the family but this also comes with a lot of stress, all in all, he’s submitted to a psychologist the story revolves around this, quite heavily at first. Now sadly this stretches out over all 6 seasons, which can be a bit of a story killer. Later in the series ( season 2 or 3, I can’t remember)SPOILER His mother dies, this was only because the actress Nancy Marchand died tragically before the entire series was finished, this impacted heavily on the series, as up until her death, Tonys whole reason for being at the psychologist was because the stress his mother caused him. SPOILER OVER

The story does still go on strong for the following seasons, Tony does things he regrets, the family see him weaken and strengthen. But over all, it doesn’t seem as though Tony learns any lessons from his rights and wrongs.

Now speaking from a film makers POV, the sound and cinematography is great, in fact at times I found myself using an iPhone App called ‘Sound Hound’ to find out what songs were used in the ending credits. The locations are perfect, but c’mon that’s easy, it’s just New Jersey..

Now I’ll wrap this up, as I could go on all day, and I ain’t got all day.

I do recommend this series, but there are definitely better series’ out there,

but if it’s Mobsters, Sex and drugs you’re after, Go watch it.
